Two days later, at midday, Nivid returned from Veerapalli. As soon as he arrived, he went straight to Kunjmani Palace to meet Aatrey.
Aatrey was seated in the scripture room. The room contained several large wooden frames with shelves filled with palm-leaf manuscripts. One side of the room was open with a balustrade, allowing light to enter. Near the shelves, a red cloth mat was laid on the floor, and upon it stood a low table. A palm‑leaf manuscript was placed on it. Aatrey was reading the manuscript.
